Sales Director - Freeze-Dried Pet Food/Treats and Pet Supplies Accessories

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze current business processes, recommending improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.

- Review performance data (financial, sales, and activity reports) to monitor productivity, goal progress, and activity levels.

- Achieve quarterly and annual sales targets.

- Utilize variance reports, technical product knowledge, market trends, and industry publications to develop personal networks and participate in pet industry trade shows.

- Service existing accounts, identify growth opportunities, and set clear objectives for visits. Drive sales and territory volume growth, increasing customer accounts and sales revenue.

- Secure orders and boost sales volume by presenting promotions and new product lines.

- Follow up on customer inquiries or issues, resolving problems promptly.

- Maintain technical knowledge by staying informed about products and trends, reading industry publications, building personal networks, and participating in trade shows.

- Prioritize customer satisfaction and build strong client relationships.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

- Five years of sales experience in the pet industry, particularly in private brands.

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.

- Ability to leverage computerized systems and spreadsheets for efficiency analysis.

- On-site position located in Chino, CA.

- Some travel required.

- Familiarity with the pet food and accessories industry and a proven sales track record.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

- Maintain strong connections with category buying teams.

- Cultivate relationships with rep and brokerage firms, as well as distributors.

- Identify new customers through online business listings, leads from existing clients, and attendance at trade shows and conferences.

- Provide upper management with sales forecasts and marketing strategies.

- Collaborate with colleagues to share selling strategies and marketing information.

- Prepare and present PPTs highlighting the product's beneficial qualities.

- Possess in-depth knowledge of the pet industry, public speaking, and marketing techniques.

- Exhibit strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills. Build and maintain customer relationships to develop a loyal customer base.

- Handle stress effectively and consistently meet or exceed sales goals.
